Content |
The 14-year-old boy writes the daily story of the journey that takes him and his fellow boarders from southern Germany to La Chaux-de-Fonds in just six days. The diary seems to be a compulsory exercise, probably supervised by the educators of the Rahn boarding school in Aarau, and intended to increase the educational value of the journey. Jean Benjamin describes in particular the city of Basle, Arlesheim, the crossing of the St. Imier valley and their ascent to the Chasseral. |
