Content | The author was ten years old when this account was written. He travelled alongside his parents and tutor on their journey from Lausanne – during which they took in Neuchâtel, Biel, Murten, Bern, Thun, Grindelwald and Interlaken (before they returned to Lausanne). He records their route and relates anecdotes about what had happened to them during the day. He writes in more detail of their visit to the city of Bern (where they spent two days) and describes the arsenal where he saw two pieces of artillery which, he says, had been taken from Charles the Bold. He also mentions their visit to the the library. Later, he writes of their expedition to the Grindelwald glacier. |
