Content | In a short outline, Lalive presents his life, beginning with his birth, his move to Paris soon after and his attendance of the Jesuit College in Freiburg. The text describing the time up to 1799 is only 20 pages long, but increasingly reads like a diary, so that it is not quite clear when these lines were written. According to Tornare, this probably only happened after 1813, partly from memory or with the help of existing calendars. The main part deals with the years 1797 to 1799 and the political changes in the context of Helveticism, which Lalive describes from his own perspective. From 1813 onwards, the text is a diary. |
