| Content | Obviously written retrospectively, this biography begins with the author's arrival in Bern in 1781 and her entry into social life and matters concerning marriage. She married in 1783 and subsequently describes her married life, and the birth of her first child in 1784. The text is written in a personal tone, but – as far as can be gleaned from a first cursory reading – no names (e.g. of the husband or the son born in 1784) are mentioned that would allow a clear identification. There are few references to dates. In general, the text seems to be a draft; after 1820 it is partly written in a diary-like form. |
