He writes about various things happening in Basel. Alongside weddings and deaths there are instances of people being accused of sorcery, or of someone drowning in the creek. The appearance of a comet in 1664 not only prompted him to make drawings in his notebook, but to write that it had come to "admonish us of our sins". He also records family matters such as his wedding; the birth of his children; his father's death; and the death of some of his own children. |
