Content | The author kept a record of the daily household expenses incurred by both himself and his wife. He mentions, for example, travel costs; the wigmaker's services; purchases of paper, straw, cereals and clothing; school fees and household wages. He also noted the sums paid to winegrowers and monies received from the sale of his own wine and for the rental of apartments. There are also meteorological observations; notes on prominent political events (e.g. execution of the French King); and mention of his own children being born. |
