| Biographical information | Daughter of Jacques and Suzanne Necker. In 1786 she married Eric-Magnus de Staël Holstein who died in 1802. Later, in 1816, she married Albert Rocca. She hosted a literary salon and published numerous books. For political reasons she left France in 1803 and lived at the Castle in Coppet which belonged to her family. Subsequently, it became a very attractive place for writers and intellectuals. She was also known for the close relationship she had with Benjamin Constant. | |
