Biographical information | Son of Henri (Lord of Moiry and Genolier) and Marie Quisard. In 1740 he married Barbe-Elisabeth Hackbrett, daughter of Colonel Jean Rodophe and Marie Lerber. They didn’t have any children. He was a member of the Bernese government, the Chambre des appellations romandes and the CC Council. From 1758 to 1766 he was Bailiff of Yverdon; while in 1773 he was appointed Captain of Bern. He wrote a book about his family entitled Généalogie de la maison de Gingins; as well as several others on Bernese nobles. He also published the novel Le Bacha de Bude. | |

Content |
The document takes the form of an account in which its author records various purchases (clothes, shoes, remedies, jewels etc.), as well as wages paid to his servants and fees for the services of barbers and tailors. He occasionally specifies his travels elsewhere: to visit his brother in Berne, for instance, or for “the grape harvest". On the reverse of the document he lists the clothes he has had made. He also mentions his marriage, as well as the engagements of his servants. |
