This register is held, at first, by Urbain Reverdil, then by his widow, from April 1751. The author records his personal accounts, as well as some accounts related to his function. It mainly refers to loans, interest, credits, bills of exchange, purchases and sales (cattle, wine, cheese). But Reverdil also notes other miscellaneous expenses: for the medical care of his younger son, for work done in his vineyards and wages of his vine growers, or for his move (November 1747). In August 1751, he gave a certain amount of money to the merchants of Geneva to invest in his name in "the trade of Spain in India". Reverdil keeps his accounts meticulously. After having written about the death of her husband, his widow continued to write the diary as the latter did, while also introducing some indications concerning her daily occupations. Thus she notes "only by Curiosity", that she began to give lessons of geography and spelling to the girls of Chatelain Puthod. |
