Content | The diary records the progress and development of Charles Gautier, the second son of the writer. The mother writes and the father intervenes only once, on September 12, 1796, to report Charles' inoculation against the smallpox. The mother describes the illnesses of her son, his character and the education given to him ... Charles is seven years and three months old when his mother stops writing. The last sentence is addressed to God: the mother asks Him to bless the boy. |
