| Content | The first part of this notebook was written in 1782. It takes the form of a mother giving advice to her daughter. The diarist explains her reasons for doing so. Namely, she wishes to guide her daughter in her future life as a wife and mother. She insists on the importance of religion and lists the qualities to cultivate and the vices to avoid. She specifies the duties of a wife towards her husband and principles to ensure their common happiness. She also gives advice on raising children. |
