Son of David Roulet and Jeanne Py. His father, an aristocrat from Neuchâtel was also capitain of the Peseux militia. He married Marie-Madeleine Bonhôte of Peseux and twelve of their children survived infancy: Émélie (1791); Marie-Elmire (1795); Marie-Barbe (1799); Madeleine-Célestine and Marie-Justine (1801); David-Frédéric (1803); Henriette-Salomé (1805); Virginie (1807); Pauline (1809); Paul-Alexandre (1811); Françoise (1813); and Clovis (1833). He made his living from farming and wine production. He was also Director of the Chambre des pauvres of Peseux and member of the Masonic Lodge of Le Locle, Vrais Frères Unis. |
