Biographical information | Son of Johann David and Maria Catharina Müller. In 1820, he married Julie Hunziker, daughter of Samuel, a notary and court clerk. He studied theology in Tübingen, in Göttingen and later in Halle. He graduated from university in Bern, probably in 1803. From 1805 to 1830, he was professor of philosophy and from 1827 to 1830 head librarian at the Academy of Arts in Bern. From 1811 onwards, he was editor of the journal Die Alpenrosen, which he co-founded and in which the best poets of his time collaborated. He revised Schweiz. Robinson oder der schiffbrüchige Schweizer Prediger, written by his father, and published it between 1812 and 1827. He also published a number of other books. He was co-founder of the Artists' Society of Bern. | |
