Content | Bernoulli describes the various stages of his life: where he was born; his school; a stay in Geneva, as well as several accidents on the way (such as falling from a horse); marriage with Dorothea Falkner; the birth of their children; and the death of a child. In addition, he writes about travels while on military duty; his academic career; his professorships; and being a member of the Royal Academy of Sciences. In 1704 he contracted a serious illness. Indeed, he became so ill that people in the city already considered him dead. He attributed his recovery to God and continued to write about the careers of his sons and the marriages of his daughters. The text is predominantly German, but with many Latin words throughout. |
