This diary is part of a series of notebooks. In them are poems, various accounts and copies (or drafts) of letters and personal notes. The notebook bears the title Suite de souvenirs depuis le 1er janvier 1793 and begins with Folio 31v intended for her cousin and friend, Constance-Louise Cazenove d'Arlens (who had left with her family for a trip of several months). In return, Constance will send her own travel diary to Rosalie. Rosalie writes daily as time and health allow. She addresses her cousin directly and recounts her activities, visits and the conversations she's had. She devotes many passages to her evenings and makes a qualitative assessment of the society she keeps. She sometimes gives her impression of the people she's met. She also shares several confidences about her feelings for a certain activity or person. The diary ends the day before her cousin's return. |
